Holland & Holland Dominion Grade – Pre-War 12 Gauge Side-by-Side – Cased This Holland & Holland Dominion Grade side-by-side shotgun, serial number 20156, is a pre-war extra finish model chambered in 12 gauge, 2 ¾ inches, and represents the legendary London maker’s tradition of craftsmanship and excellence. The shotgun features 28-inch barrels, choked modified and full, with bores that remain bright, shiny, and near perfect. The barrels are clearly marked “Holland & Holland, 98 New Bond Street, London” and retain their original factory finish. Engraving extends 1.75 inches down the rib, adding to its elegant presentation. The gun weighs 6 pounds 12 ounces, perfectly balanced for game shooting. The receiver is coin-finished and decorated with exquisite extra-finish scroll engraving. It is configured with double triggers and fitted with a tang-mounted safety. This is an extractor model, with mechanics that lock up tightly and operate precisely as expected from Holland & Holland. The stock is crafted in the classic straight English style, with finely cut point checkering, and is paired with a checkered splinter forearm. The stock has a 15-inch length of pull to a leather-wrapped recoil pad. Drop at heel measures 1 5/8 inches, and drop at comb is 2 3/8 inches. An inlaid silver nameplate is fitted in the stock, engraved with the initials “R.C.” Both the walnut and the metalwork remain in remarkable condition, showing only the lightest signs of careful handling. This exceptional shotgun is presented in its original Holland & Holland leather-bound case, complete with cleaning rod, snap caps, oil bottle, and brushes, all housed in a felt-lined interior. The case is fitted with double straps and remains in very good condition. This pre-war Holland & Holland Dominion Grade exemplifies the brand’s world-renowned quality, fit, and finish. Rarely encountered in such fine original condition, it would make a remarkable addition to any collection of best-quality sporting arms. FFL Status: Antique
