Beretta Model ASEL – 12 Gauge Over/Under Double Barrel – 1958 Production This Beretta Model ASEL over/under shotgun, serial number 20143, is chambered in 12 gauge, 2 ¾ inches, and choked full and full. Manufactured in 1958, it is a fine example of Beretta’s mid-20th century craftsmanship, showcasing elegant engraving and classic European styling. The shotgun is fitted with 27.5-inch molybdenum compressed steel barrels, topped with a solid rib and single bead front sight. Both barrels have bright, shiny bores with sharp edges. The muzzles show only slight even silvering, while the remainder of the barrels retain their excellent original deep blueing. The barrel flats and water table are jeweled with multiple crisp proof marks. The boxlock receiver is fully adorned with stunning floral and scroll engraving, extending across the sides and onto the ears and barrel release. The tang-mounted safety features an enlarged “S” marking for visibility. The shotgun is equipped with double triggers and automatic ejectors, with smooth mechanics throughout. The trigger guard retains excellent original blueing, with only slight silvering on the edges, and carries a continuation of the elegant floral engraving. The walnut stock set is equally impressive. The forearm is checkered, finger-grooved, and fitted with an engraved forearm release and hardware, showing Beretta’s hallmark attention to detail. The buttstock has a checkered pistol grip, a light gloss finish, and only a few very slight handling marks. It is capped with a black rubber recoil pad, providing comfortable shooting. Both forearm and buttstock retain a warm patina and strong grain, adding to its appeal. Factory sling swivels are mounted at the forend and buttstock, both in excellent condition. The length of pull measures 13 ½ inches, maintaining factory originality. This Beretta Model ASEL remains in phenomenal condition for its age. With its intricate engraving, fine walnut, and superb mechanical quality, it exemplifies Beretta’s excellence in design and manufacture. A beautiful and highly collectible shotgun, it represents both artistry and function, and would be a prized addition to any fine arms collection. FFL Status: Curio & Relic (C&R)
