Colt 1976 Bicentennial Commemorative Boxed Revolver Set – Rare & Complete This seldom-seen Colt Bicentennial Commemorative Set, numbered 1216 of only 1,776 produced, is one of the most desirable Colt collector offerings ever made. Presented in a custom-built, lockable American walnut case with three velvet-lined drawers, the set remains in mint, unfired condition and represents Colt’s finest craftsmanship in honor of the United States Bicentennial. The set includes three historically significant revolvers, each inset with Presidential Seal grips and retaining all-original finishes: Colt Python .357 Magnum – Serial No. 1216PY A superb double- and single-action revolver with a 6-inch vent-rib barrel, serrated full ramp front sight, and adjustable “U” notch rear sight. The bore and chambers are near perfect. The deep Colt bluing is excellent with only the faintest marks beneath the cylinder. The six-shot cylinder features engraved U.S. landmarks and mottos, with the Rampant Colt on the frame. Walnut grips inset with the Presidential Seal remain like new. Colt Single Action Army .45 Colt – Serial No. 1216PM This Peacemaker embodies the Old West, featuring a 7½-inch barrel with flawless dark bluing and an exceptional bore. The case-hardened frame displays vivid colors, with the Rampant Colt on the left side. Its unfluted cylinder is engraved with the Betsy Ross flag and the original thirteen colonies. Hammer is blued and straw-finished, while the Presidential Seal grips show rich patina. Colt Dragoon .44 Percussion – Serial No. 1216DG A faithful tribute to Colt’s early frontier revolvers, with a 7½-inch barrel, silver blade front sight, and hammer-notch rear sight. The case-hardened frame and hammer retain striking colors, complemented by a silver-plated backstrap and trigger guard. The cylinder is engraved with W.L. Ormsby’s iconic 1844 Texas Rangers vs. Comanche battle scene. All serial numbers match across major components. Walnut grips with the Presidential Seal remain outstanding. Included are its original gilt powder flask marked “Colt’s Patent” with raised Civil War imagery, bullet mold, revolver tool, and an Eley Bros. cap tin (empty). The set also includes its original factory hardwood case, fitted with three drawers for the revolvers and accoutrements, still immaculate and accompanied by two working keys. A leather-bound copy of “The Home, the Arm, and the Armory of Samuel Colt: A Memorial” is included, along with the original Colt Industries marketing letter. All three revolvers remain unturned and unfired, an extraordinary state of preservation that is virtually impossible to improve upon. Produced in very limited numbers, this commemorative set embodies the spirit of American history, the heritage of the Second Amendment, and the pride of Colt’s gunmaking tradition. A centerpiece for any advanced Colt collection, this is one of the most historically significant commemoratives Colt ever produced. Serial Number: 1216 (PY, PM, DG) FFL Status: Modern
