Sako L579 – .243 Winchester (1966 Production) with Original Scope Ring Box and Paperwork This Finnish-made Sako Model L579 bolt-action rifle, serial number 46927, is chambered in .243 Winchester and represents one of the most desirable sporting rifles of its era. Produced in 1966, this rifle highlights the exceptional craftsmanship and precision that made Sako a premier name in European firearms. The rifle features a 23-inch barrel with a hooded front sight and retains stunning original dark bluing with crisp factory markings. The bore is bright and shiny, with sharp, well-defined rifling. The right side of the barrel is marked “Bofors Steel”, a hallmark of quality from this production era. The highly polished bolt handle and receiver exhibit exquisite bluing, and the bolt action is exceptionally smooth. A right-side safety is positioned conveniently behind the bolt handle. The trapdoor floorplate and trigger guard retain matching bluing and remain in excellent condition. The rifle is stocked in a Monte Carlo hardwood stock with a raised cheekpiece, finely checkered forearm, and pistol grip. The stock has a rich, high-shine finish, showing only the faintest marks from careful use and age. Double sling swivel studs are present at both the forend and buttstock, which is capped with a black polymer Sako-marked buttplate in very good condition. The rifle is fitted with Sako scope mounts that remain in remarkable condition, leaving it fully optic-ready. Adding to its collectibility, this rifle comes with its original Sako scope ring box and paperwork, a rare inclusion that underscores its originality and care. This 1966 Sako L579 is in marvelous condition for its age, a testament to decades of careful ownership. With its beautiful walnut stock, “Bofors Steel” barrel, and included factory accessories, it is both a highly capable hunting rifle and a fine collector’s piece. FFL Status: Curio & Relic (C&R)
